ACMA to Present Free USPS Webinar On New Informed Delivery™ Program
In an ongoing effort find ways to "marry" digital to postal mail, the US Postal Service's latest effort could prove lucrative for catalog mailers. The agency has begun testing a new service called Informed Delivery™. We will explain how catalogers can get involved in a free ACMA webinar on Thursday, February 25th at 3:00 pm Eastern Time (registration details below).
How It Works
Consumers receive daily emails from the USPS showing simple images of the letter-sized mail they will be receiving each day - essentially a palate-whetter to get consumers excited about what's coming in their mailboxes each day. In the case of catalogs, consumers will see images of the catalog cover for mailers participating in the pilot test.
Attractive Features
But there's more to it than that: The USPS is offering to participating mailers (catalogers included) the opportunity to embed links along with the emails' digital images to special offers, videos, unique landing pages - essentially any digital offers the mailers wish to include. What's more, the USPS will provide mailers with data about email open rates and click-throughs.
Encouraging Early Results; Other Key Details
Early reports from a recently-completed USPS operational test show response of greater than 2x by consumers who have received email alerts about beforehand compared to mail they receive with no prior alerts.
Initially, there will be no charge to mailers to participate in the pilot test.
