House to Mark Up New Postal Reform Bill That
Would Bake In Exigent Postage Levels;
Industry Needs to Push For Member Opposition

Dear Industry Member:

We're at an urgent point in time here and need industry action ASAP. The House Committee on Oversight & Reform has reportedly set up a mark-up of its new Postal Reform bill for this Wednesday, May 7th at 2:00 pm E.T. The bill, which lifts most major elements from President Obama's budget, includes a provision (Section 9) calling for this year's exigent postage increase to become the base for future rate increases, rather than reverting back to pre-exigency levels.

Our ask here is simple: Click here to view the full committee roster and see if your headquarters, fulfillment center or any other facilities, or clusters of employees are located in any committee members' jurisdictions. Where you find location matches, call or email your local member with the following asks:
  • To oppose the new House Postal Reform bill.
  • If the mark-up is to be held, to oppose Section 9, which calls for future postage increases to come on top of the current exigent rate increase level.
  • To postpone the May 7th markup to enable all Members, interested parties and the public a full opportunity to understand what would be in the new bill and make their voices heard.
As with any legislative actions you take, kindly cc or bcc action@catalogmailers.org or call ACMA's Paul Miller (914-669-8391) so we can keep track of industry involvement. With the markup less than two days away, the time to act is now. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
