Congress in Summer Recess; Time to Get Your Members' Eyes & Ears Industry Alert:Congress Heads Home = Time to Get Active ACMA Urges Industry to Get Your House, Senate Members in For a Visit; Share Your Postal, Tax Concerns Dear Catalog Industry Executive: Both branches of Congress broke for summer recess on August 3rd. This comes at a time with much at stake for catalogers: • The House oversight committee a couple of weeks ago passed the Postal Reform Act of 2013 clearing the way for a vote by the entire House; last week, a Senate Postal Reform bill was “dropped” and now faces committee action. In both, there are several issues important for catalogs. • The House continues to examine various issues surrounding the Senate-passed Marketplace Fairness Act, a bill designed to rewrite the 1992 Quill v. North Dakota precedent forcing catalog and online sellers to collect sales and use taxes in states where the marketer has no physical presence. Click here to read our full report.
