3PRC Gives Final Approval on Postal Service 2013 Price Increase
On December 11th the Postal Regulatory Commission’s (PRC) released its Final Approval on the U.S. Postal Service’s request to increase postal prices in 2013. The PRC ruled that the Postal Service’s November 26th response, increasing the average price of a Flat product to 2.617%, satisfied its FY 2010 Annual Compliance Determination (ACD) directive to:
Increase the cost coverage of the Standard Mail Flats product through a combination of above-average price adjustments -- consistent with the price cap requirements --
and cost reductions until such time that the revenues for this product exceed attributable costs.

No other Standard Mail prices were changed as a result of the Standard Mail Flats price revisions.
This includes all Letter Mail and Carrier Route Flats. USPS 2013 Postal Promotions are also approved as part of the 2013 price increase and will take place throughout 2013.
