Job Summary:
Yankee Candle is looking for a senior level studio manager who can wear two hats.
Hat #1: Manage a fast paced studio operation and direct a full-time staff of three including two senior level shooters. And manage freelance stylists, assistants and photographers as needed.
Hat #2: We want you be a hands-on experienced photographer who can shoot creative, brand-building product images that drive the audience into a candle buying frenzy!

You’ll be working with an exceptional group of creatives—great brand enthusiasts who care deeply about their work and work hard to get results. Not a lot of egos, just a lot of talent, experience, and openness to whatever is going to do right by the brand and move the needle on sales. And we do all of that swiftly, for catalogs, our site, email and everything connected to our retail stores.

Here’s what we believe we need, though keep in mind we’re always willing to accept more:
• Direct and supervise the studio staff—photographers, stylists, freelancers to ensure they work efficiently to maximize output and deliver consistent top quality brand-right images.
• Demonstrate urgency in pursuit of goals – leverage process and organization to achieve production and quality targets.
• Photograph products to be brand-right and to entice the consumer to purchase.
• Have a deep technical knowledge of studio photography that delivers images that support the vision of the creative staff and the brand team.
• Collaborates with the Creative Director and design staff to develop visual concepts for all consumer touch-points.
• Drives evolution in both technical approach and creative execution.
• Ensures quality and service provided by contractors match our brand and meet our budget expectations.
• Manages the studio budgets for supplies, contractor services, and equipment. Ensures costs are accurately forecasted.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree in commercial photography and/or 7 plus years of experience that demonstrates mastery of the discipline.
• Experience in directing, managing and inspiring photographers, studio staff and freelance personnel in a multi-channel corporate environment.
• History of successfully collaboration with Creative Directors and designers to achieve activating and brand-right images.
• Comfortable as a visual steward: direct photo production/image creation to support and evolve the brand.
• Previous experience with Image database management and work-flow design and maintenance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. With the Ability to work fast, and accurately.
• Experienced in Macintosh OS, MS office, Adobe creative suite.
• Knowledge and ability to operate the most up-to date commercial digital photography and lighting equipment.
• A portfolio demonstrates ability to shoot product photographs that inspire consumers to purchase and are aspirational for the target audience.
