At our headquarters in Boston, we are looking to hire a Merchandiser, Race Operations who will contribute to the success of Store Operations at Spartan Race. The Merchandiser is a key member of our team who will be responsible for the onsite merchandise store at our obstacle races. You will be handling onsite race day operations of the retail village Spartan Race store including process, operations, inventory control and cash management from setup to breakdown on race weekend.
What is the job? You will provide staffing support including input, feedback and assessment of staff assigned to the retail village. The main components include:
• Setup/Staging Oversight – Arriving Wednesday to be ready for Thursday morning audit and oversee container staging.
• Receive and manage the inventory – Audit inbound receivables and take a pre-inventory of stock and report any deficits.
• Race Day preparations – Oversee merchandise staff, train and oversee volunteers, sell product and be the primary lead on selling days.
• Merchandise assessment – Engage customers, monitor product quality, assess assortment gaps, report product feedback and assortment suggestions.
• Close Out – Oversee outbound inventory procedures, restock product for next event, batch out POS machines, assist cash handler with cost out of cash and promotional coupons.
• Break Down – Dismantle displays, pack up outbound inventory, close down and lock retail contains, clean up village area, confirm retail container handoff to the production team.
• Reporting – Prepare assortment performance report, and post inventory report.

Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will have a degree in Retail Merchandising or an equivalent focus. Must have a good understanding on how a retail store operates, experience in an allocation role and the ability to travel extensively. This role is combination of merchandiser, planner, analyst and store manager rolled in to one unique role. Training will be 95% onsite and you must be able to attend 18 - 20 races and willing to travel the entire US. You are Spartan!
