The Creative Director at Vermont Teddy Bear is responsible for establishing, leading and directing the overarching creative strategy, guiding a team of graphic designers and copywriters. As the main brand ambassador this position must be able to articulate and influence all other stakeholders on those brand attributes and promises. Presentation of design concepts and strategies to internal clients and Senior Management will be a key role for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage creative team in an in-house agency setting.
Ensure team and campaigns meet deadlines and stay within budget.
Oversee campaigns from production to completion, responding to feedback in a timely manner.
Manage the catalog production calendar and assures adherence to the production deadlines.
Lead editorial direction and oversee execution of key marketing messages.
Create, maintain and enforce Brand Standards manuals.
Work with marketing, merchandising, graphic designers, and copywriters to develop collaborative idea generation and creativity. Lead an ongoing ideation process.
Lead and own the overall brand aesthetic in all creative elements, including design, photography and voice
Inspire a deep understanding of the essence of the brands among the creative staff, and assure that catalogs, print, radio copy, tv creative, retail store, web graphics and emails reflect the brands character and differential advantages
Set the overall tone and direction for creative, guide and oversee creative execution across all marketing vehicles and channels
Responsible for copy for all catalogs, brochures, TV spots, radio, and other forms of advertising
Oversee and approve locations, casting and photo art direction supporting photo team as needed on location
Cast actors for TV and radio work, including voiceovers
Oversee Digital Asset Management.
Participate in Product Development brainstorming sessions.
Research competitors and keep abreast of market trends.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to think and act both creatively and strategically.
Agility in responding to business plans and evolving business trends.
Understanding of creative execution elements and processes that are specific to each medium/channel of customer communication
Experience in overseeing creative execution that links to brand positioning
Exceptional people management and mentoring skills, with particular strength in building a collaborative work environment
Excellent innovation management skills; able to lead vision and purpose
Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of creativity that pushes innovative ideas while guiding the team to connect with the customer and deliver on core brand attributes
Possess strategic understanding of competitor positioning, differentiators, strengths and weaknesses
Successful leadership record
Ability to inspire creativity in others
Education / Experience
BA in Graphic Design or Marketing or equivalent experience
8-10 years in graphic design with 3- 5 of those in management
Expert in the Adobe Creative Suite
Experience in print, catalog and web marketing
In-house experience preferred
