We are currently recruiting for a Managing Editor to join our Team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and drive editorial branding strategies and concepts; serving as the chief voice of content and brining the “Art of Delight” to life, and present to VP of Creative and senior management as appropriate
• Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Copy department setting goals, establishing quality measures and assisting in creating work processes with other departments in support of company initiatives
• Build and support multiple fashion/lifestyle brands within the overall Garnet Hill brand with a distinctive copy/editorial voice, maintaining a cohesive overall presentation
• Understand the overall business, brand and marketing objectives and proactively contribute to its evolution and success through creative and strategic writing
• Research and oversee the development of all copy and editorial for print, collateral advertising, public relations and the Internet (including seasonal themes), while continuing to enhance the brand voice
• Develop a multichannel core Copy staff that is specialized but interchangeable/cross-trained to meet the growing needs of the organization/business
• Develop, lead and mentor the Copy team. Make sure talent is in place, set lofty goals, and ensure the team and its members succeed and grow
• Work with the Production Proofreading team to ensure consistency of voice by maintaining Garnet Hill’s copy/style guidelines (Garnet Hill House Style Guide)
• Attend all assigned Creative and Merchandising line reviews and approval meetings to ensure greater consistency and accuracy of content information
• Work with Merchandising to support seasonal trends and editorial agendas with dynamic and effective copy approaches
• Establish and maintain the Copy department budget
• Ensure the fulfillment of marketing/public relations copy and content needs. Provide content for other company collateral including, but not limited to mailers and alternative marketing efforts, promotional materials, customer letters/communications, package inserts and packaging
• Establish best–practice processes, standards and guidelines for copy development, ensuring quality, style, accuracy and consistency throughout
• In collaboration with Creative, Production, Merchandising and Marketing teams, develop concepts for creative content of catalog, web, marketing and other miscellaneous projects
• Be a contributing member of the Creative team brainstorming, planning and developing future projects
• Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business

Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in writing intensive field or equivalent work experience
• 7+ year’s experience in advertising copywriting and editing in high-quality catalog and multi-channel retailer environment within the apparel and/or lifestyle brands; including all print, collateral and Internet
• 3+ years experience managing and leading a high-performing work team
• Experience in public relations and press releases a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Advanced skills with Macintosh/Apple systems and software
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and InDesign a plus
• Understanding of copy as it relates to art, design, graphics and typography
