Garnet Hill, a growing high-end multi-channel marketer specializing in original designs in clothing and home dιcor is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY: Oversee the operations and management of the SQL servers in a product environment where database availability is critical
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, upgrade and integrate SQL databases throughout the organization Provide database support activities which include but are not limited to software installation, problem resolution, database maintenance, and project implementation Monitor and improve database and server performance Optimize data availability for production environment Utilize Microsoft SQL server client tools in performing normal database administration duties Identify, recommend and perform hardware upgrades based on business requirements Provide DBA support and work with other team members to transfer knowledge of the SQL server environment Remain current with latest technology and best practices to ensure database applications remain in line with latest advancements and business objectives Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience managing SQL databases Significant experience with stored procedures, schema, triggers and tables
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Proficient in SQL Server 2008 and/or 2005 database administration o SQL Server Database Engine o SQL Server Integration Services o SQL Server Replication o SQL Server Reporting Services o SQL Server Notification Services o SQL server security administration o Data warehousing Knowledge of SQL development and architecture Knowledge of database backup and recovery Knowledge of installation and configuration of SQL Server 2005/2008 preferred
SKILLS REQUIRED: Proven ability to manage small to mid-size projects, assessing project scope and timely follow-through relating to project requirements and deadlines Exceptional documentation skills Extremely high attention to detail Strong business acumen Excellent problem-solving skills Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines Strong understanding of industry best practices in system administrations Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
