We are creating a new position Direct Mail Marketing Specialist (“DMMS”) to assist in administering a successful direct-to-consumer postcard marketing program. The postcard campaigns are year-round with a total annual circulation of around 20 million. Promotional postcards are mailed to acquire new customers. They are also mailed to a house list of more than 800,000 customers.

The DMMS is a key member of the marketing team and will work closely with the CFO who manages the postcard program. The CFO has been administering the program without any dedicated assistance since 2005. But the CFO is 63 and is expecting to retire by the end of 2020. The Direct Mail Marketing Specialist has the opportunity to master the job and to succeed him in managing the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Analyze past performance of mail campaigns to determine strategies that will be most effective and which ones should be discontinued.
•Develop and maintain a postcard promotion calendar and keep the marketing team abreast of changes.
•Brainstorm with other members of the marketing team on new products to test. Propose a test campaign with input from our list Broker.
•Work with third party Cooperative Database Vendor to develop effective mailing list models including appropriate selection criteria and suppression lists.
•Execute mail campaigns by submitting orders for rental mail lists, providing instructions to the merge-purge vendor on how to process the lists and providing instructions to the postcard printing company on how to print the cards which are produced in batches of up to 30 commingled product offers.
•Providing quality control for the mailing lists to prevent or correct mistakes.
•Project results of the card campaigns for financial and production planning.
•Monitor mail campaigns to the house list - response rate - sales per card with an eye for improving performance and selecting product candidates for mailing.
•Monitor managerial dashboard customer database reports - such as RFM data, Timing of 2nd purchase and customer attrition to identify trends and shape our house list strategy.
•Monitor competitive activity and react to direct mail trends and best practices.


Qualifications:

Minimum - Bachelors degree and 2 + years related marketing experience.
Good marketing sense and number sense
Collegial attitude and good written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills - statistical and financial
Experience using Microsoft Excel
Experience applying regression analysis to problem solving would be a plus
Experience using any database would be a plus. (We use Microsoft Access 2010 and SQL Server)
Marketing experience in the gift or apparel industry would be a plus.
Operational experience with any direct mail catalog or solo offer would be a strong plus.
