WHO WE ARE

At American Meadows, we like to say that we Do Good Through Gardening. Our primary focus is to be great at providing home gardeners with the products and knowledge they need to succeed. We work to accomplish this by combining top-quality products, a staff that’s passionate about what we do, the latest in technology and proven direct-to-consumer methods. If that sounds intriguing, read on...

OUR CHALLENGE

Gardeners work very hard for results that often do not arrive for months or even years. We want to inspire and inform customers while also closing the sale. We are always looking for ways to offer the right products to customers in the ways they want to learn and shop.

WHO YOU ARE & WHAT YOU’D DO

Like many small businesses, we all wear many hats and reach in many directions. Our ongoing growth has allowed us to bolster our team with an individual whose focus is on our data, helping to drive financial and operational improvements by working with data to build, maintain and report from various models.

We are seeking an experienced individual with a proven track record of success in analytical roles. Key areas for this position will be sales reporting, pro forma financial modelling, demand planning, understanding of relational databases, and general ability to bring a quantitative approach to bear on issues. This new role would report to the Director of Finance and Operations and have direct exposure to company ownership and leadership team.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree minimum, in a quant field such as economics or finance.
• 2+ years of experience in financial and data analysis
• Experience in at least some of the following: sales reporting, demand modeling, cost accounting, dashboards, automation, acquisition/retention, Lifetime Value, House File reporting, and marketing segmentation-driven data feeds.
• Own or assist with all aspects of reporting such as inventory demand models, daily sales reporting, gross profit by brand, P&L variance analysis, and KPI dashboard.
• Enjoys diving into data and answering questions, with an appropriate concern for accuracy.
• Comfortable working on complex financial models, primarily in Microsoft Excel.
• Comfortable working with relational databases, whether it is Microsoft Access query building to answer an ad hoc question, or SQL query writing for production level reporting.
• Microsoft Excel high level of proficiency, particularly formula writing, linking, and pivot tables.
• Data visualization experience, e.g. Tableau, Microsoft B.I.
• E-commerce experience preferred. Comfortable in a tech-intensive environment.
• Ability to prioritize while meeting deadlines each day.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and looks to grow their skills while fostering a collaborative and enjoyable work environment.
• Willingness to ‘do what it takes’ to contribute to the success of a small, growing business.
• We’re gardeners – you should be too!

Comments:
The position will offer a salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package. Interested parties are to send Step 1 and a resume to jobs@americanmeadows.com. Step 1 is simple: In a few short paragraphs, tell us an example of how you have effectively used an analytical approach to solve or help solve a business problem. This is not intended to be a writing assignment, rather a chance for you to initiate an informed conversation about the core elements of this role.
