The Manager of Site Merchandising and Marketing is responsible for online content & creative merchandising for the NG Store website (www.ngstore.com). This position coordinates new product uploads, plans and executes site promotions, manages site content updates and works with a team of internal and external resources to produce necessary assets (images, copy, etc.). Manages E-commerce Content & Social Media Specialist.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. CREATIVE MERCHANDISING AND MARKETING (40%)

● Develop and execute merchandising campaigns and promotions based on organizational priorities, web analytics, sales data, key promotables, National Geographic initiatives, retail calendar, seasonality and inventory
● Plan and execute promotional content and creative asset production across all platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet)
● Merchandise site categories, ensuring new and key products are featured prominently across the site through category sort order, featured homepage & category page items, cross-sells and landing page assortments
● Manage external creative resources and work with internal creative teams for projects (designers, copywriters, agencies) to complete merchandising and marketing projects to meet the schedule & business goals
● Write copy as needed for promotional content, offers and marketing campaigns
● Coordinate landing pages for special initiatives, including choosing products, setting timelines, and working with members of the team to produce all required elements
● Assist and coordinate with the Ecommerce Marketing Team with the creative direction and product assortments for emails and paid search landing experiences
● Manage the implementation of NG Online Store promotions and ensure the web team completes all promotional planning calendar tasks on time
● Perform and manage the acquisition and creation of all required assets for promotions including copy, art, and tracking URLs
● Lead weekly web and multi-channel merchandising and creative planning and promotion meetings
● Ensure editorial content, merchandising, and marketing promotion calendar and other team documents are up-to-date at all times
● Create and maintain a weekly/monthly promotional calendar during Q1-Q3 and daily during Q4
● Oversee and participate in the testing of all site content in coordination with site refreshes, functionality and marketing/merchandising initiatives
● Receive, prioritize & execute requests from executives. internal product team, buying team & marketing team. Requests may include: landing pages, reports, product page changes, new assortments, merchandising changes
● Maintain awareness of marketing trends as well as competitor websites and promotions/events

2. PRODUCT UPLOADS (20%)

● Create time lines and project manage new product uploads (~10 per year) and other site content updates, working with all members of the cross-functional team (internal product teams, buyers, planners, operations, web development, and creative) to deliver assets and streamline the production process
● Develop & maintain an annual calendar of product upload schedules, including deadlines for all members of cross-functional team
● Work with internal media product partners (books, maps, home entertainment) to gather all necessary information and assets for new media products
● Manage the on-site QA of web-only and catalog products, ensuring product pages are user-friendly and all functionality is performing as expected
● Work with web, merchandising & operations teams to identify and reduce process inefficiencies

3. ANALYSIS & REPORTING (20%)

● Help create and maintain seasonal reporting, visual presentations, and key learnings for all campaigns for both internal audience and strategic partners
● Analyze website statistics and disseminate the information to cross-departmental teams as appropriate including analysis and reporting of key user trends and conclusions/implications for business planning, Key Performance Indicators, and success of partner promotions
● Help write Holiday Recaps with high-level quantitative, qualitative data, and ideas to create a record of customer behavior and historical marketplace info for future planning
● Analysis and reporting of results for all merchandising and promotional efforts

4. MANAGEMENT (20%)

● Manage the E-Commerce Content & Social Media Specialist, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the editorial calendar, NG Store blog, social media accounts (Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube), product uploads, and site maintenance.
● Project management and oversight of all E-Commerce marketing projects in JIRA. Optimize workflow and processes for efficient use of resources in order to increase productivity.


Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

● Ability to manage multiple resources, priorities and a large volume of projects in progress at the same time
● Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary
● Comprehensive understanding of the retail e-commerce landscape
● Understanding of the creative process & the amount of time needed to execute creative requests; ability to communicate this timing to key stakeholders; ability to find ways to meet extremely tight deadlines without jeopardizing important working relationships
● Knowledge of usability, design, copy, photography, marketing & e-commerce best practices
● Basic understanding of HTML
● Technical aptitude with web-based tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, including strength in Microsoft Excel (e.g., vlookup, text to columns)
● Experience with JIRA (or other issue tracking tools) and other project management tools
● Experience with Oracle Commerce Platform (ATG, Endeca, Experience Manager) or other similar commerce platforms, on-site search technology, and content management tools.
● Experience using web analytics software (e.g., Omniture/Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Crazy Egg, etc.)
● Analytical mind that can read, update, understand, and interpret business analytics.
● Excellent understanding of how to work effectively and meet team objectives with a diverse set of business stakeholders and present to individuals at all levels

Experience:
Ecommerce = 2-3 years
Online Merchandising = 1-2 years
Online and Social Media Marketing = 1-2 years
Creative Management = 2 years
