The Buyer-Retail Merchandiser (BRM) is a critical and exciting position with our Lehman’s Merchandising Team. As a BRM you will help shape the retail future of Lehman’s by developing and managing brand centric categories across multiple channels. Accomplishing these tasks can be done in a variety of ways but will primarily consist of procuring new and exciting products in a highly organized fashion. As one of our BRM’s you will work closely with our merchandise related records and files, organize categories, set up plan-o-grams, seek out and secure new vendors and products; all while using your education and experience to preserve the Lehman’s brand and experience across our retail mediums (store front, catalog and ecommerce).

If you are data-driven, have the ability to read market trends and can execute strategies to drive for significant sales and product increase, then this is the position for you! Your success as a BRM will be measured by your ability to secure new products and vendors as well as increase sales from our direct sales catalog, retail stores and retail store online.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Merchandising
• Build assortments of new seasonal, annual, and long-term products/categories.
• Source new products/categories by attending national and international markets and by developing and managing proprietary product with an emphasis on private label and exclusive product.
• Launch, maintain and close out products/categories across multiple channels
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships including negotiation and conducting vendor/rep meetings for the purpose of sales and margin reviews, new product offerings, ideas for special promos and exclusives.
• Collaborate closely with merchandising, marketing, inventory management, and creative teams to ensure consistency of story and assortment across channels.
• Maintain/improve customer satisfaction by working with VP Merchandise to assure brand image and maintain/lower return rates.
• Assume overall pricing, margin, budget responsibilities for assigned product assortments and categories.
• Work across all channels (retail, direct, all facets of both) by assisting with store merchandising and catalog creation
• Provide analysis using supplied reporting to identify products/categories to be expanded or closed out; adjust catalog/retail facings; review successes of each season; review and analyze competitors and to understand customer attitudes and buying preferences.

Physical Responsibilities
• Ability to move/transfer up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a routine basis and occasionally move/transfer bulkier (up to 100 pounds) items
• Ability to access daily work areas which include but are not limited to office, warehouse, stores

Qualifications:

Education
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Experience
• 3+ Years working with a retail product line preferred but not required
• Use of computers and various business software such as but not limited to: Microsoft AX, Excel, Word
• Previous product selection, buying, and merchandising experience required
• Merchandising experience in a direct marketing environment is desirable but not a requirement
• Retail experience a plus

Travel – must be willing and able to travel as needed for work related purposes, such as but not limited to:
• Trade Shows
• Tourism Events

Language
• English – must be able to communicate and understand the English language utilizing any and all forms of communication (written, verbal, visual, etc.)

Scheduling
• Must be willing and able to work assigned (minimum of 40 hours per week) schedule as defined by supervision based on staffing needs
• Flex and remote scheduling will be considered but not at the inconvenience of the larger Marketing team
• Dependability - must be willing and able to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards; must be reliable, responsible and fulfill all employment obligations
