A Day in the Life
The Associate Merchant is responsible for merchandising exciting collections that reflect the Garnet Hill sensibility in one or more of the following areas: apparel, accessories, footwear and/or rotating categories.
• Manage all aspects of seasonal assortment planning from initial selection through post-seasonal analysis under the supervision of the Senior Merchant
• Create and present assortment concepts relative to key item merchandising within categories of responsibility
• Develop and present merchandise plans to the Senior Merchant based on sales history, trend, price point and product positioning
• Participate in all phases of the product creation and/or product merchandising process
• Responsible for the growth and development of assigned categories

Qualifications:

Must Haves
• Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising, Fashion Design or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of proven success in an Assistant Merchant or similar position with a leading upscale fashion manufacturer or retailer
• Must be passionate about the merchandising business
• Strong creative and conceptualization skills with an appreciation for the importance of visual communication

Nice to Haves
• Catalog/direct marketing experience
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
• Ability to produce profitable results
• Strong business acumen
