The Senior Technical Analyst will set a direction for management and support of various server, desktop, laptop, network, and mobile devices at Orvis facilities worldwide. This position will provide second and third level administration, analysis and support for the various hardware, software and network technology platforms at Orvis locations worldwide. This involves trouble shooting all technologies to assist the first level technicians and developing, as well as, executing system enhancements and new technology installations. This position will support the user community with training and technical assistance beyond the first level technicians’ area of expertise.

Company Interfaces:
The position reports directly to the Technical Services Supervisor. The position has no direct reports, but will have a responsibility for setting server, desktop, laptop, network, and mobile device standards for Technical Service team members across all Orvis locations.

The position will interact daily with the departmental technology users in Vermont, Virginia and all Orvis remote sites, i.e.: Orvis UK, Gokey and Retail / Outlet locations. There will also be regular contact with service technicians, contracted support and vendors assisting the Orvis organization.

Performance Metrics:
• Research, evaluate and introduce repeatable and scientific server, desktop, laptop, network, and mobile device management hardware, software and implementation techniques.
• Improve efficiency of Technical Services through the identification and implementation of new processes and procedures to shorten the end user problem resolution time.
• Standardize Technical Service team members’ responses to repetitive problems through common tools, knowledge and training.
• Introduce methods and techniques that blend technology support among all server, desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
• Maintain system stability and maximize uptime for all users.

General Responsibilities
• Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
• Identify and implement procedures and tools to manage server, desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
• Implement, maintain and support servers and related applications and technologies (i.e. Exchange, SQL, Terminal Services, VMware, Backup/Recovery, Storage Array Network).
• Administer the LANs and WANs to ensure system availability
• Find resolutions for all problems not solved by first level technicians and when necessary, propose techniques or tools to eliminate the problem from happening in the future.
• Review enhancements to procedures and process used in Technical Services.
• Educate first level technicians to train end users to become self-sufficient on technology.
• Interface with vendors to solve problems and present solutions to better Orvis’ use of technology.
• Assist in maintenance of IS hardware and software inventories.
• Support systems after regular business hours and on weekends as needed.

Qualifications:
The Senior Technical Analyst will have a well-rounded working knowledge of various networking, servers, personal computers, hardware, software, and peripheral devices. This position requires strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, multi-task management and the ability to work without supervision during and after regular business hours. Five plus years hands on experience with Microsoft Windows, Exchange, SQL, VMware, Storage Array Networks, server, desktop and laptop hardware, mobile devices, networking and other related technologies and communication protocols. Exposure to Apple Macintosh environment is also a requirement.
