The Interaction Designer will innovate and design ecommerce-driven functionality across Orvis’ digital properties. The successful individual will be able to produce annotated wireframes, rapid prototypes and requirements for optimizing the user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile that is considered industry-leading.

Company Interfaces:
The Interaction Designer will report to the Website Manager. Daily interfaces can be expected with the Digital Design, Merchandising, IT, Digital Marketing, and Social Media teams.

General Responsibilities:
• Create elegant conceptual solutions for everything from one-off landing pages to complex projects. Define development specifications based on these concepts, with strategies to test and iterate;
• Embrace design informed by data, usability studies, and business requirements, incorporating extensive best- practices research and competitive analysis into your process;
• Work with visual designers to negotiate a functional balance and ensure a smooth transition of design into development;
• Leverage existing CMS functionalities in innovative ways. Recommend new functionality opportunities;
• Help to prioritize deliverables aligning to short- and long-term ecommerce roadmaps;
• Lead user experience research and usability studies;
• Develops and evolves user experience principles and best practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in information design, human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, human factors or related field such as visual design;
• 5+ years’ experience as a digital interaction/UX designer;
• Demonstrated track record developing wireframes, rapid prototypes, process flow charts, experience maps, and functional specifications for desktop and mobile ecommerce experiences. Please provide a link to a portfolio;
• Hands-on HTML/CSS, JavaScript and jQuery experience;
• Experience developing and setting up usability and A/B tests;
• Very high level of comfort in working with developers on the website presentation layer to deliver new products and features;
• Familiarity with Agile development methodology;
• Experience with content management systems;
• Strong project management skills;
• Highly organized and detail oriented;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain and justify design decisions;
• Willingness to consider feedback from multiple teams within the company.
