To support continued growth while maintaining our high standards for customer service, Orvis is seeking a talented, motivated Director of IT E-Commerce Development to lead our IT E-Commerce development team in Sunderland, Vermont. The position will partner with the VP of E-Commerce and will play a key role within the Orvis IT department. The Director will evaluate business opportunities, develop the E-Commerce technology roadmap, and recommend & implement both long-term strategic solutions and short-term tactical solutions critical to Orvis’ success.

The Director of IT E-Commerce Development leads a team of managers and developers directly responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all systems related to the Orvis e-commerce platforms. This position is also responsible for maintaining, supporting, upgrading, and streamlining existing systems and applications.

Responsibilities:
• Partner with key Orvis leadership to develop 1-5 year e-commerce plans that align with corporate objectives and support a comprehensive e-commerce Marketing Plan
• Oversee the design of a scalable and reliable web platform and its day to day stability
• Maintain expertise and keep informed of developments and trends in e-commerce
• Manage, lead, mentor, and develop the e-commerce system team
• Manage all aspects of IT projects, from project initiation to full implementation
• Work directly with other technology leaders to:
• Evolve e-commerce systems
• Collaborate and resolve critical issues
• Set development best practices, standards, and procedures
• Utilize the Orvis IT Project Life Cycle
• Develop strategic migration plans in key aspects of our business
• Manage vendor communication, negotiation, and service level commitments
• Develop and coordinate business training, documentation, and mentoring of implemented solutions

Qualifications:
Skill Set Required:
• Demonstrated propensity for results
• Ability to challenge Orvis internal processes (IT and Business) and articulate the value of proposed changes
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Able to present ideas in both business-friendly and IT-friendly language
• Highest levels of personal and professional integrity
• Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment
• Must be able to interface with executive teams, business leaders, and external partners
• Experience facilitating, defining and documenting business process requirements, developing software selection criteria, and evaluating potential solutions
• Conduct research into existing and emerging technologies, practices, issues, etc.
• Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to think critically and solve complex problems

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field required
• 10+ year experience in software development required
• 5+ year experience in managing and leading software development teams required
• Demonstrated experience with: n-tier architecture, database design and software architecture
• Experience with .Net and SQL Server preferred
• Retail experience in a multi-channel environment required
