Orvis is seeking a digital marketing leader who will champion our growing marketing programs for our US, UK and international ecommerce sales. The Director of Digital Marketing will develop, implement, measure and optimize the digital marketing investment portfolio to profitably acquire and retain customers. The right candidate will have demonstrated results in setting vision, leadership at propelling internal teams to successful results, and building effective agency and peer partnerships.

This position is a pivotal role at a time of transition in Orvis marketing. The company is investing more in digital marketing while it reduces its reliance on catalog marketing.

Company Interfaces:
Direct reports to this position include program managers for SEM, SEO, email, affiliate/re-targeting, among others. Key peer partners are in retail marketing/operations; catalog marketing; digital merchandising; social media; web content; technology and marketing data base. This position reports directly into the Vice President of Ecommerce/Digital. Our digital team is located in our home office in Sunderland, Vermont.

General Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the strategic direction of digital marketing as well as for the development and successful execution of initiatives to meet or exceed the short and long-term goals of digital marketing at Orvis.
• Full P&L ownership for all digital marketing programs including but not limited to email; SEO; SEM; affiliates; re-marketing; CSE’s; and marketplace partnerships (Amazon and eBay).
• Creation of annual, six month, and monthly budgets supporting company goals. This includes demand and marketing investment by program as well as fixed and variable expenses management.
• Develop new customer acquisition strategy for digital marketing. This will include partnering with the data base marketing team to understand the lifetime value of digital customers by source.
• Develop new customer retention strategy to increase customer share of wallet.
• Own digital support of retail. Partner with store managers and retail management team to deliver effective store driving strategies. In addition, work with stores to improve multi-channel support including among other things improve our email capture rate in retail.
• Business owner of our re-launched international ecommerce initiative. Lead the development and implementation top country digital marketing programs.
• Work in close collaboration with digital merchants and web content and design to optimize conversion of key digital storefront landing pages.
• Develop and implement regular processes which increase efficiency, mitigate risk and reduce reactive situations.
• Creation of relevant reporting and analytics which provide insight into issues and opportunities leading to action.
• Select, negotiate and manage all external digital marketing vendors and programs.
• Management of product feeds to external users of content.

Qualifications:
• Enthusiastic self-starter who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Customer centric. Passion for the Sporting Traditions Lifestyle a plus.
• 6+ years of digital marketing experience as a channel/program manager, 3+ years managing direct reports.
• Previous hands on experience in one or more digital marketing functions. Has “grown up” in the digital space for a good portion of their career.
• Strong project management skills.
• Management experience of a small or mid-size team.
• Ability to grow professionally as the business grows.
• Strong network of external peers and experts in Digital Marketing.
• Never ending curiosity and love of learning. A passion for new technology and digital marketing.
• Experience in a multi-channel retail environment a plus.
