The Retail Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all marketing activity across all offline and online touch points that drives customers into Orvis Retail Stores and communicates with them in-store, increasing traffic, order conversion and dollars recorded per transaction. This generalist position will work in partnership with department specialists to plan and execute campaigns.

Company Interfaces:
This position is a member of the Marketing organization with a strong dotted line to Retail leadership. It reports to the Vice President of Ecommerce (located in Sunderland, Vermont) to ensure the coordination of Retail promotions and messaging with the overall corporate Marketing Promotional calendar. This is an individual contributor, with no direct reports.

The position interfaces primarily with Retail leadership, operational and merchandising departments, the Digital Marketing and Database Marketing groups, and Creative Services.

Key Performance Measurements:
• Customer traffic goals
• Sales goals considering traffic conversion rates and dollars per transaction
• Achieving markdown and gross profit goals
• Ensure that all retail communications act to enhance retail’s position as the most potent expression of the Orvis brand.

General Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning of customer facing retail campaigns, working within the Creative Seasonal Strategy and with Digital and Database marketing to optimize distribution through all channels.
• Manage (plan, report, control) the budget for selling expenses that drive retail customer traffic across all channels.
• Ensure retail alignment with other channels marketing efforts in terms of content, promotional activity and timing
• Oversee successful execution (proofing, targeting, coordination, expenses) of campaigns and in-store events in partnership with channel specialists
• Work with the Creative Director, Merchants & Creative to establish key stories for the season and design campaigns – direct marketing, advertising, windows & in-store
• Manage retail prospecting efforts across all channels and report on ROI
• Establish social media cadence and roll out in conjunction with Social Media group
• Manage content of Store web pages and constant contact local emails
• Manage the relationship between store traffic and traffic driving activity and report
• Manage the retail advertising budget and allocate resources for the best ROI
• Develop strategy for New Store opening activity and early year’s build-up (3 year plan)
• Monitor other retailer’s activity to establish new mechanics for driving traffic
• Testing new innovations in retail marketing

Qualifications:
• A real passion for the in-store customer experience. A desire to structure and communicate to customers the compelling reasons to experience Orvis in a retail store setting.
• Three years plus of marketing experience for a bricks-and-mortar or multi-channel retailer
• Strong entrepreneurial instincts
• Proven experience building partnerships and cooperation across multiple departments; strength in building “influence without authority”
• Strong coordination and organization skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field – or equivalent work experience
